The Westwood Oral History Project and its far reaching links into the community has been made possible through funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and also from the Wiltshire Area Board and Westwood Parish Council. The grant we received has enabled us to resource a comprehensive project through which we can record and preserve precious memories and artefacts from the people of the Westwood community, so that everyone has a better understanding of their heritage. These memories will then be shared online as an archive, preserved through the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre and broadcast live on air through community shows from our school radio station, Westwood Radio. With opportunities to develop speaking and listening skills and to bridge age gaps between generations, all of the children within our school community will experience and take part in bringing together the vast heritage that Westwood has to offer, so that they can then share it with their families in years to come. Including interviews, topical areas of interest, photographs and even original audio clips, our aim is to involve as many members of our local community as possible so that we can all share Westwood together with the World.
